Examples of evolutionary evidence Classify each example according to the type of evidence for evolution that is described. Pharyngeal pouches are structures found in the embryos of fish, humans, and all other vertebrates. In fish, the pouches develop into gills, whereas in humans they develop into parts of the ear, jaw, and thymus gland. Gorillas, chimpanzees, and humans have no tails, but they do have "tailbones" at the base of the spine that are structurally similar to the bones making up the tails of monkeys and lemurs.
